Borders UK selects Rapid to speed up store communication

Borders UK has selected the Rapid Store Management System from Retail Answers to cover the area of communication between stores and head office as part of the total IT refresh required by the split from US owner Borders Group International.

Ed Meek, Store General Manager, explained that Borders selected Rapid for the clarity and simplicity of the user interface, “Because it has been designed specifically for retail, it is very intuitive for store staff to use. The store diary screen, with its to do list and highlighted new information, is particularly useful to ensure that store teams are kept up-to-date by the central team.” Rapid also offers the ability to create web forms, which will enable the elimination of paper and email in the collection of information from the stores.

Rapid has been designed to be implemented quickly and smoothly. Configuration options provide the right amount of flexibility while not being overly complex and the web-based architecture means that it is simple to deploy across both head office and store networks with the minimum of overhead.

Simon Thomas, Chief Information Officer said “Rapid is part of the Borders strategic IT initiative, meeting a key requirement for store communication that wasn’t covered by any other system. Rapid provided the functionality we were looking for and was cost effective and quick to implement in comparison with competitive systems.”
